This history of the raets is unknown and only legends seem to explain their origin. What is known is that they closely resemble sahuagin, but are in fact very different. They hail from the waters around the islands, but somehow have come to be able to live on land as well as underwater.

Game Rules

  • -2 Cha, -2 Int, +2 Str – raets are not attractive or intelligent creatures, but their skills in the water and on land makes up for it.
  • Medium: As medium creatures, raets have no bonuses or penalties related to size.
  • Amphibious: Raets can breathe underwater and on land, and cannot drown.
  • Raet base land speed and swim speed is 30 ft.
  • Aquatic mastery: Raets suffer no penalty for underwater combat.
  • A Raet has a +5 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line.
  • Automatic languages: Common, Raet, Aquan. Bonus languages: Any
  • Favored Class: Fighter
